1. Seattle – May is a busy month for Sounders FC, but Sigi Schmid's recent success with squad rotation means the current stretch of one defeat in eight could continue as it progresses. (4)
2. San Jose – Chris Wondolowski has scored more goals this season (11) than 10 MLS sides. (2)
3. Real Salt Lake – RSL will miss Will Johnson's industry at Chicago on Wednesday, but his fresh legs could make all the difference in terms of covering ground on Saturday at Seattle. (3)
4. Sporting Kansas City – Peter Vermes and his crew will want to stop this recent course correction – two defeats after seven straight wins to open the season – in time for Saturday's tricky trip to Chicago. (1)
5. D.C. United – Is there a better way to open Houston's new stadium than a visit by Dwayne De Rosario? United will hope the Canadian international treats the Dynamo liked he treated former employers Toronto FC at the weekend. (5)
6. Houston – The best feature of BBVA Compass Stadium: the 15 pillars of current and former players (and one of Dominic Kinnear, of course) scattered along the east and west sides of the ground. (6)
7. New York – Sometimes, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. (7)
8. Vancouver – The tidy work completed in Edmonton last week should allow Martin Rennie to name a first-choice side in New England at the weekend. (8)
9. Chicago – Austin Berry's night against Chivas USA certainly ranks among the more eventful starting bows made by a MLS rookie. (10)
10. Colorado – The reunion of Conor Casey and Omar Cummings may have to wait a week or two until Cummings heals up that sprained left ankle of his. (11)
11. FC Dallas – Two red cards in Sunday's setback to Colorado, two missing players for Wednesday's match with searing hot Seattle and two potential defeats tied to a loss of composure. Not an ideal scenario for Schellas Hyndman's injury-ravaged side. (9)
12. Montréal – Process this stat for a moment: the Impact have now collected 10 points from their previous five matches. (17)
13. Los Angeles – Maybe the Galaxy will welcome the opportunity to play some soccer without David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane over the next couple of months. Their absence might provide a jolt to this otherwise listless group. (12)
14. Chivas USA – This portion of the Rankings is reserved for … (13)
15. Philadelphia – …defensively sound teams that can't score from the run of play to save their lives. (14)
16. New England – It will probably take a little while for Revolution officials to find the words (in Spanish, of course) to tell Fernando Cárdenas exactly why he procured a red card on Saturday night. Or maybe it won't. (16)
17. Columbus – It isn't a particularly good sign about the state of matters in central midfield when Chris Birchall signs on the dotted line to save the day. (15)
18. Portland – Home draws with Columbus aren't usually located on the path to redemption. (18)
19. Toronto FC – The misery has to end at some point, doesn't it? (19)
